Eloise is cute.

You have a choice.
I will either smile,
Or take the alligator out of my mouth.
But not really both.
Now hand over the camera.

Eloise Sad

I think when she is sad you can really see how the shape of her eyes resembles dad's. (My dad, her grandpa.)

saint patricks day

Happy Saint Patricks day. We celebrated by none of us managing to wear green clothing, but it doesn't matter because we sat around the house all day. John is a party pooper though, he wouldn't let me buy food coloring and dye our dinner green.

It's Spring(ish)!

It was at least warm enough to play outside for a while. I brought out a blanket so Eloise wouldn't have to sit on the cold concrete so she chose to sit just off the blanket on the cold concrete. She watches Fina ride her bike and yells a bunch, I don't know if she is cheering or if she is saying "hey, come back here!!"
Fina can get going pretty fast these days. After I took this picture I realized her legs were all crunched up so I made her stop so I could raise the seat.
It turns out Eloise loves sidewalk chalk. She thinks it is delicious.
The next one is Fina laughing because she stopped in such a spot that her back tire wasn't touching the ground, and when that happens I always yell at her "pedal faster! You don't seem to be getting anywhere!" (When she first got the bike she would pedal furiously until someone came and gave her a push when she got stuck on uneven sidewalk, now she knows to push with her feet but she still pedals really fast just to make me laugh.)

My favorite part of the day was when she tipped over on her bike and I said "Are you ok?" and she said, "No! My hands! They're dirty!" and held up her mud covered hands.

I think my kid has been playing too much computer

Serafina loves to play PBS kids games, although I only let her do it once a week or so because once she gets on the computer it is very hard to get her off without tears. She's down playing with her Fisher price little people animals, and I just overheard "We need to go to the top of the barn to rescue him! Click here to make us go up."

Quilt

I started a baby quilt for Eloise. It is going to be really pretty and colorful when I am done. I have sewn 2 of the 5 strips I need for it so far, hopefully I can get some fabric for the sashing tomorrow if we happen to go out to the mall. Poor Squeaky is 9 months old and doesn't have a proper "baby blanket" yet. Fina has one with kitties that my grandma made her, and 2 afghans that various relatives crocheted for her.

Fend for yourself

John had a test tonight so when I asked him what he wanted me to cook for dinner (as in i would have cooked and had it ready when he got home from his test) he said, "I'll probably eat a sandwich before my test so I might not be hungry after, let's just have an eat whatever night." Now the thing about fend for yourself night is that it works really well if your kids are old enough to at least make themselves a damn sandwich. But if they are young, you just end up cooking separate dinners for everyone. I offered Fina a few easy choices: hot dog, quesadilla, or leftover pasta from last night. She chose a hot dog, so I made that for her and then scrounged up some applesauce so it looked more like a balanced meal. Eloise had cheerios and baby mush, and then she went to bed. Then I got distracted and didn't end up making anything for myself. But later, after John had gotten home, I went to the kitchen to make myself some dinner and he immediately perked up all vulture-like "What are you having?" I despise when people do that, because you know as soon as you tell them they are going to ask you to make some for them. So I quickly changed my plans from what I was originally making to frozen burritos, which John not only doesn't like, but we only had 2. I would have gladly made him dinner if that had been the plan, but I am not going to play short order cook and then end up cooking for everyone.

Oh, also just now Fina came out whining at me that "someone" used up all the little cups in the bathroom so she can't brush her teeth. Don't play innocent with me little girl, I know who crumpled all the little cups up and threw them in the toilet earlier.
